Largest fish on the Lynher in over 20 years

Graham Hake and the salmon!

When fishing for our hatchery brood stock Graham Hake hooked this very large cock salmon. After an hour we eventually netted it after having to get a much larger net! It measured over 37in and was very deep which equates to a 20lb+ salmon. It was returned safely as it was far too big for our hatchery.

For our latest cycle at the hatchery we have now caught our allotment of brood stock being eight hens and eight cocks. This year most of our hen fish are quite small - in the region of 5lbs-6lbs which means we probably won’t get as many eggs as we did last year which was over 46,000 eggs.
