44,600 fertilised eggs!

Hatchery News

March 2023

We have at present 44,600 fertilised eggs.  Half have now been transferred to incubation boxes in our main tanks.  They will swim up when their egg sacs have been used and will be fed on until they are ready to be returned to the river in late August/September.  The balance of the eggs will be seeded out in artificial reeds shortly. Their progression has been entirely natural at every step, hatched in natural Lynher river water mirroring what would happen in the wild.

Below is Nick and Graham working at the hatchery.
